Haiku

A Haiku is a Japanese poem written with 17 syllables. The poem is divided into 3 lines of 5,7,5 syllables. After we read the story, "Yang the Third" the students write a haiku about their favorite thing in nature.

What's in a name? Acrostic poems are simple poems in which each the first letter of each line forms a word or phrase (vertically). An acrostic poem can describe the subject or even tell a brief story about it.
