Lunch Schedule

LUNCH NOTE:  If you are bringing a lunch to your child, please have it in the CAFETERIA by the beginning of your child's lunch time (see schedule above).  Middle School students are not allowed to have parties at lunch for any reason.  We welcome all parents to have lunch with their children on any day.

Elementary

Elementary School students’ daily schedule consists of all academic subjects being taught daily.  Students also receive ancillary instruction daily in one of the following areas:  Computer, Spanish, Physical Education, Music, Science and any others made available during the course of the school year.  Students are assigned a homeroom teacher who will either provide or monitor academic progress.  Our elementary classrooms are grouped in clusters of five classrooms and teachers who work cooperatively to provide optimum instruction to all students.  Clusters refer to themselves as “families” and regularly function in that way.  Each student has an opportunity to interact with each teacher in their cluster: through direct instruction, co-curricular instruction, or cluster activities.

Some elementary clusters "loop", meaning they stay with the same teacher for two grades/two years.  Cluster assignments for 2007-2008 are:
Kindergarten     Cluster B                                  Fourth Grade     Cluster C (loop)
First Grade        Cluster C                                  Third Grade      Cluster B (loop)
Second Grade   Cluster D                                  Fifth Grade       Cluster D

Fifth Grade classes are departmentalized, with each teacher providing instruction in that area to all 5th grade students.  Middle School students’ have an “alternating block schedule”.   Each student has eight academic/elective courses, which meet four per day, on alternating days for 1.5 hours per period.  We have identified these days on the school calendar as BLUE or GRAY.  The Blue days are periods 1-4 while the Gray days are periods 5-8.  The result is that students meet with each class every other day.  It is very important that parents help their children keep up with BLUE/GRAY days so they are prepared for class on the correct day.
