What time does school start and when is my child considered tardy?

The first bell rings at 7:55 signaling students to go to class.
The tardy bell rings at 8:00.

Arrival, Dismissal, and Transportation
  • Caution: Parents who pick up and drop off children at The Rice School / La Escuela Rice should be prepared to wait in traffic for up to 15 minutes.
  • Strict traffic and parking rules are enforced on Seuss Drive and in our parking lot to protect the safety of our students and staff.
  • Car Pool pickup: Students will be waiting for pickup in the lane closest to Braes Bayou.
  • Students are organized by grade level with Kindergarten on the far left and middle school near the center of the driveways.
  • For Safety and Convenience please remind your children to look for your car and be ready to be escorted to it when you arrive.
